About Me

I'm a 27-year-old fantasy football enthusiast originally from Detroit and now living in Chicago. Yes, I am a Lions fan, and yes it does suck. Why do you think I have so much time to spend on fantasy football? I'm going on my 5th season of fantasy football this year and became the proud owner of some hardware last season. I was also recently hired to be the Senior Writer at FantasyCrowd.com.

Random Fantasy Football Thoughts for 2010

I thought I would take a page from Pat Caputo and give you some of my random fantasy football thoughts this year.

- I can’t believe many fantasy football magazines and writers are still telling everybody not to draft RB/RB in the first two rounds. This is considered “expert” advice??? C’mon anybody that watches the NFL nowadays should know that the tables have turned a while ago…if you don’t know it’s a passing league by now, then I surely hope you are not in any sort of a competitive type league

- That being said, I actually think it’s a deeper draft for WR’s, QB’s and TE’s than I’ve seen in recent years. Therefore I think it puts more of a premium on getting top tier running backs, so I will try to get two in the first three rounds if I can.

- Quarterbacks have the best value in the late first and early second round in my opinion…especially if you get 6 pts for throwing td’s. My list goes A-Rodg, Brees, then Peyton. I also think Brady is good value right now. He’s currently going early third in most drafts I’ve seen. One more year removed from the surgery, he has looked pretty good so far too and it's looks like they will be in many shootouts as well.

- I don’t have enough time to keep up with all the NFL teams, but I do know a thing or two about my Lions. One thing I can tell you, Jahvid Best is the real deal. Yeah he’s a little risky because of the injury factor, so you can find better value in the first two rounds. However after that, I would take a chance and grab him if you can. He’s gonna play a lot, get the ball a lot and score a lot. I suspect the Lions will be in many shootouts this year, and I’m not saying their record is going to be much better, but they have potential on offense to have some fantasy studs…Best and CJ especially. Best could easily give you round 1 production in the 4th round. That’s the type of stuff that can win you championships. He catches the ball well too, so he should be even more valuable in PPR leagues.

- LT has looked good the few times I saw him this preseason. Def good value in the 10th round and later. He looks like he still has something to prove. His cuts have been sharp, and still looks like he has a good burst of speed. It doesn't hurt he's playing behind one the best lines in the league now either.

- Here’s some PPR sleepers for ya: Chester Taylor, Eddie Royal, Brian Westbrook, Julian Edelman, Anthony Gonzalez.

- Overall sleepers- Malcolm Floyd, Mike Williams from Tampy Bay, Arian Foster, Steve Breaston, Greg Camarillo

Btw, the fantasy apprentice will be back this year. I'm currently working on the teams so if anybody has any suggestions feel free to send them over or hit me up at twitter.com/daveseidl.
